Montreal, February 6th 2004 – TSX Venture Exchange « ORE » – AntOro Resources Inc. announces the discovery of additional Kimberlite Indicator Minerals on its Five Diamonds property located 100km south of the town of Radisson, in the James-Bay municipality of northern Quebec.
Following the acquisition of the Wapiscan-Rivière-des-Peupliers property in 2001, the company proceeded with an extended study of the region’s mineral potential. The study highlighted the presence of a magnetic anomaly located underneath Lake Wapistan, south of the property. In the winter of 2002, AntOro acquired the claims covering the geophysical anomaly, called the Five Diamonds property. A reconnaissance sampling survey targeting the quaternary sediments was initiated in order to verify the presence of kimberlite indicator minerals down ice-flow from the magnetic anomaly. The survey consisted of five (5) samples of basal till which produced three (3) picroilmenites and one (1) titanium-rich chromite grain (See January 17, 2003 and May 5, 2003 press releases).
As a follow up to the exploration efforts deployed in the summer of 2002 and to reproduce its results, the company proceeded with the sampling of 83 basal till samples with the help of an excavator. This permitted a better control of the nature and quality of the sampled material. The geological crew executed a systematic sampling survey along four (4) sampling fences with samples being taken at 100m intervals.
Preliminary results indicate the presence of five (5) eclogitic garnets, one (1) titanium-rich chromite and five (5) picroilmenites. These minerals were all extracted from samples taken down ice-flow and within it’s axis, which seem to be originating from the magnetic anomaly. Upon receipt of the final laboratory report, which should be completed in the following weeks, the results will be disclosed by way of a press release.
The interpretation of a high resolution ground magnetic survey which was undertaken during the previous winter highlighted a cluster of 12 sub-anomalies with circumferences varying from 70 to 150 m, derived from the main anomaly. These sub-anomalies are all located under lake Wapistan along the extension of the Rivière-du-Peuplier regional shear.
The company intends on pursuing its exploration efforts by completing of a drilling campaign that will target the source of the magnetic anomalies located under lake Wapistan.
