List of exploration work completed by AntOro:
November 1996: Geology, soil geochemistry, prospecting
November 1996: VLF, Mag, I.P. & BEEP-MAT geophysical surveys
January 1997: Diamond Drilling (11 holes ) in the Alutor Lake area
June 2002: Prospecting, rock sampling and till sampling (Phase I)
February 2004: Till sampling (Phase II)
The Montalembert property is located in the south-east and north-east quadrants of the township of the same name located halfway between Chibougamau and Matagami, and the southern limit of the property is 7 km Northwest of the village of Waswanipi. Year-round access to the property is available through well maintained gravel logging roads which connect to Highway No. 113 running between the towns of Chibougamau and Val d’ÄôOr.
The property consists of 71 contiguous claims covering an area of 1,136 hectares. AntOro Resources Inc. holds a 100% interest in these claims.
The property hosts 13 I.P. anomalies and many mineralized outcrops with pyrite, pyrrhotite, chalcopyrite, molybdenite, bornite and malachite, initially prospected by the Ministˆ®re des richesses naturelles du Quˆ©bec during geological campaigns in 1951 and 1982. A total of 14 small showings have been discovered in proximity of granitic intrusions within comagmatic gabbro and differentiated gabbros sills. An important gold showing (0.37 oz/t Au (12.67 g/t Au) on 100m.) has been discovered at the south-east end of the property.
Exploration work realized by AntOro Resources Inc. in the Fall of 1996 and Winter of 1997 produced results of 534 ppb Au and 963 ppb Au in the area surrounding lake Alutor in the Eastern section of the property. A sampling grading 2.7 g/t Au was obtained around lake Himalaya in soils sampled from a chargeability anomaly spanning 400 m in diameter. Geophysical surveys done in the Fall of 1996 confirmed the presence of 13 I.P. anomalies initially detected in 1988 by Orimex Resources Inc. A drilling campaign identified a brecciated gabbro structure that revealed 164 ppb Au and 0.3% Cu (Drilling 97-LA1-8). Before AntOro's exploration campaign, Orimex had performed perfunctory exploration work on half of the current property.
Between 1972 and 1974, SOQUEM completed a limited sampling of some targets identified by an airborne geophysical survey.
Systematic soil and rock samples resulted in grades of up to 2.7 g/t Au, 3% Cu and 164 ppm Ni.
Diamond drilling on the property resulted in samples grading up to 0.16% Cr on 0.5 m.; 0.3% Cu (0.11% Cu over 3.5 m.) 0.21% Zn over 1 m. and 687 ppm Ni over 0.7 m.
The company ran an overburden sampling program in the summer and 2002 that had to be cut short due to forest fires; the remaining sampling was performed in the fall of 2004 and the company is awaiting results from the lab.
