Wapiscan-Five Diamonds Properties
List of exploration work completed by AntOro:
August 2002: Geology, soil sampling, till sampling and prospecting.
June 2003: Overburden sampling down-ice-flow and up ice-flow from circular magnetic anomaly.
March 2004: Diamond drilling of the magnetic anomaly.
The Wapiscan-Riviˆ®re-des-Peupliers property is located approximately 90 km south of the town of Radisson in the James Bay region of Quebec. Year-round access to the property is available through n¬† 109 year-round road connecting Matagami to Radisson and by means of a well maintained trail that transects the property from east to west.
The properties consist of xx contiguous claims covering an area of xxxx hectares. AntOro Resources Inc. holds a 100% interest on all of these claims. During the June 2002 field campaign, an additional 6 claims have been acquired in order to secure a magnetic anomaly on the property's southern edge bringing the property's total surface to 1,357 hectares. The Five-Diamonds portion of property was acquired in the summer of 2002 in order to secure the mining exploration rights on the circular magnetic anomaly that lies under Lake Wapiscan. This magnetic anomaly is also associated with the Riviˆ®re-du-Peuplier regional shear zone. During the 2002 summer field campaign, the team of geologists took 3 till samples down ice-flow from the magnetic anomaly and preliminary reports indicate that these samples contain Kimberlite Indicator Minerals (KIM'S). AntOro is currently planning a ground Magnetic survey of the anomaly during winter 2003 and to be followed by the detailed exploration of this structure during next summer.
The property hosts metavolcanic rocks (upper greenschists facies) and a regional shear zone with Au showings of 2.4 g/t and 1.73 g/t; the same shear zone also returned occurrences of 29.1 g/t, 20.6 g/t and 186 g/t in the immediate region of the property. Between 1958 and 1993, a gold showing was discovered on the property: the West Kaychikuapichu Lake showing is located within the Riviˆ®re-des-Peupliers shear zone and Au-Ag mineralisation is associated with pyrite, pyrrhotite and arsenopyrite; the showing produced 3.70 g/t Au and 3.62 g/t Au in disseminated sulphides.
In 1997, Korinor Resources Inc. executed a large field campaign that consisted of: geology, prospecting, systematic soil and rock samples, Beep-Mat, I.P. and MAG-VLF geophysical surveys. Following the interpretations of the data collected, 12 diamond drill holes of which 4 intersected the I.P. anomalies which means that the bulk of the I.P. anomalies have not been drilled to date.
The best results on the property during the Korinor campaign were: 2.1% Cu with 11.7 g/t Ag and 5.0% Cu with 24.6 g/t Ag and 1.0 g/t Au. Seven other Ag grades were obtained ranging from 2.4 to 4.3 g/t. The mineralisation is generally disseminated with fine veins of pyrite, chalcopyrite and pyrrhotite with trace amounts of bornite, malachite and native copper hosted in both the metavolcanic environment and quartz-carbonates veins. The granite stocks on the southern portion of the property and aplite dykes on the northern part are both also mineralized in Au. Grab samples taken on the lateral extensions of the I.P. anomalies returned grades of 1.0g/t, 1.51 g/t and 40.56 g/t
In August of 2002, AntOro evaluated the property's diamondiferous potential. This decision was taken after consulting a promotional report issued by Gˆ©ologie Quˆ©bec updating the diamondiferous potential of the region. The Wapiscan-Riviˆ®re-des-Peupliers property located within the Wemindji-Caniapiscau structural corridor which is the object of active diamond-exploration efforts. Subsequent overburden sampling programs identified many kimberlite indicator minerals, subsequent drilling of the obvious magnetic targets however failed to find the source of these minerals.
